The slate of officers will remain on the board for 2020 as follows: President and Director Bob Helmstadter; Vice President and Director Lon Childress; Secretary and Director Carol Danzer, and; Treasurer and Director Annette Layher. After closing the HOA Meeting, the Monday Morning Coffee Hour began with an opener by Harold Price. We had 118 present including returnee Betty Lawson and new resident Ted Miller on Roger Street.

Lynette Pickup gave birthday wishes this week to Diana Morgan and anniversary wishes to Dan & Mary Newman (51 Years) and Sonny & Betty Emmons.

Carol Parker gave the sunshine report: A card was mailed to Jim and Patti Forrest on Friday from the park residents. We were told he wasn’t doing well. A card is going around this morning for Terry McGarigle. He had hernia surgery on Friday and is now home taking it easy.

Pat Butts is home from hospital now. I’m sure she is happy about that.

Betty Lawson is home for a while, then going back to her daughter for more treatments.

Reminder that there is bingo tonight and games night on Tuesdays and Fridays. Volunteers are needed to sign up for callers and runners. Bluegrass is this Wednesday’s at 1:00 PM, we had 105 attend last week. Cornhole is at 9:00 AM on Thursdays. Bunko is on Tuesdays at 1:00 PM and Pinochle on Wednesdays. Horseshoes is starting back up today and will be every Monday at 10:00 AM (following coffee) and Wednesdays at 9:00 AM. Bible Study resumes this week as well on Mondays at 2:00 PM. Golf is every Monday and Friday.

Martha Watson announced the game winners for last week were: Ron Harmon won the Hot Ball at Bingo worth $35; Punk won Euchre; Carol Danzer won Cornhole; Dick Thelen won Pinochle and, Chuck Danzer won Shuffleboard on Tuesday with Mike McCarville, Don Guy & Carol Danzer winning on Friday.

The next Ladies Luncheon will be January 14, 2020 at Jaceranda in Avon Park. Be sure to sign up and pay $15 in advance. Meet at the Clubhouse by 11:00 AM. The Christmas decorations will still be up!

Linda Price announced the pictures for the new park directory are going well. About 25 residents still need to have their sitting. Anyone needing to schedule a sitting are asked to do so. There is no cost for the sitting but, if anyone would like to purchase additional prints ($30 minimum) a viewing time will be scheduled about one week after your sitting.

Annette Layher announced she is now collecting the HOA annual dues on January 1. The dues are $15/year per person.

The 50/50 winner was Pat Moody for $42. The guessing game had a carryover from last week for a total pot of $27.75 and was won by Brenda Hollingsworth. The insulated bag winner this week was Charlene Taylor.

ROC President Rick Motzinger announced the next men’s breakfast will be on January 11. $5 paid in advance and sign up sheets are available. He reminded us the property at 2014 John L Street will be open for viewing today after coffee until 2:00. Sealed bids will then be accepted until January 15 from park residents only. Bids will be opened January 16 with the winner announced at the shareholder meeting.

Sylvia Flannagan announced the annual flea market will be on February 7. Anyone wanting a table should sign up to reserve their space and all tables must be manned by 7:00 AM on the day of the sale.

Harold Price announced the Heartland Food Reservoir was very grateful for our donations from the park. Cash was raised in the amount of $330 which was used to purchase a Christmas gift for 13 children and their mother staying in the shelter. The park also donated 475# of food that was given to area families for their Christmas meal. The donations were very much appreciated and needed.

Lynette Pickup presented a traveling trophy to Bob Mellinger for “outstanding golfing performance” by having an Eagle at the Sebring Country Club on Hole #10. (You do know my wife is going to cherish having that little guy on display in our house!)

The donuts today were provided by Nikki DeHaven, Jim & Linda Stebleton and Gerald & Miriam Steele.

Bob Helmstadter provided the closer with a reminder of how great our God is and how our prayers are always answered. Keep on praying!

Lynette Pickup gave the birthday wishes this week to Pat Rice, Jim Stebleton, Nikki Dehaven and Phil Manning. Only one anniversary is celebrated this week by Gary & Connie Bruner (52 years).

Carol Parker gave the sunshine report: Pat Butts is doing little better, as is Betty Lawson. Someone is bringing her back next month. Also, Jim Forrest isn’t doing well so please keep him & everyone in your prayers.

Nancy Mellinger reminded us the sewing circle will resume on January 6 at 1:00 PM.

Carol Danzer thanked all who helped with the luminaries on Christmas Eve and making it such a huge success! They were a beautiful sight!

The next ROC Shareholder meeting will be January 16. Treasurer Ron Harmon reported the property at 2014 John L Street will be open for viewing on January 6 after coffee until 2:00 PM. Sealed bids will then be accepted until January 15 from park residents only. Bids will be opened January 16 with the winner announced at the shareholder meeting.

Vice President Lon Childress opened the Monday Morning Coffee Meeting with 76 attending. Ed Layher provided the opener. Lon also acknowledged the Gourmet Committee and all who participated in the Christmas Parade on Saturday evening. In spite of the weather, we had a great turnout and a wonderful time.

Returnees to the park this week are Mike and Edyth MacDonald. We have no new residents this week however, John Pickup reported some are on their way.

Lynette Pickup gave the birthday wishes this week to J.R. Anderson, Alan Pratt and Marlene Burns. Anniversaries celebrated this week are Chuck and Laura Imboden (6 year RV’s), and Lee and Denise Smith (45 years).

Carol Parker gave the sunshine report: Lee Baldwin was in hospital but home now. Don Guy says he will get better just going to take time. As he fell last week. Pat Butts is still in hospital. Keep her in your prayers.

A Christmas card was mailed to John and Judy Weber from the Hammock Estates. His wife Judy is in nursing home.

Christmas cards were signed for Yvonne Moran, Judy Barlow, Elaine Tomlinson, Arline Dennis and a Hanukkah card signed for Herb Moscowitz.

HOA President Bob Helmstadter asked Carol to please “tell our Hammock Estates family at coffee that Ruth and I wish them a blessed Christmas, we miss you all and love you all. See you in the new year.”

Nancy Mellinger reminded us the Christmas dinner will be on December 25 at 2:00 PM. Be sure to sign up and bring a covered dish and table settings.

Carol Danzer reminded us to meet at the clubhouse 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 24, to assemble the luminaries and prepare for distribution. Volunteers are also needed at 5:00 PM to light the luminaries. These will be placed on both sides of each driveway to be burning Christmas Eve to morning.

Linda Price asked everyone to get signed up for their photo session with Nancy Pratt. The sessions are going quite smoothly. There is no cost for the sitting but, if anyone would like to purchase additional prints ($30 minimum) a viewing time will be scheduled about one week after your sitting.

Please submit all January activities to Linda by Saturday, December 28, to be included in next months’ calendar.

Annette Layher announced she will need all outstanding HOA bills by Friday, December 27, to be able to close out the year.

The 50/50 winner was George Sherry for $36. The guessing game was won by Diane Wood for $11.25. The raffle for the insulated bags was won by Sandy Sherry.

Lon Childress reminded us the trash pickup this week will be on Thursday, set it to the curb Wednesday evening. Lon also expressed his sincere wishes for a very Merry Christmas to all.

Vice President Lon Childress opened the Monday Morning Coffee Meeting with 85 present. Ed Layher provided the opener. Lon also acknowledged Ron Harmon and Terry Webber for their improvement projects for the park; to the Men’s Group for another successful and delicious breakfast on Saturday; and, to those responsible for having the Birthday Party on Saturday afternoon for all those celebrating in December.

Returnees to the park this week are Dave Acker, Dick and Pat Thelen, Bill and Nadine French, and Bill and Kathy Gardner. We welcomed new residents Ken and Charlene Taylor to our park. They reside on Louis Street.

Lynette Pickup gave the birthday wishes this week to Miriam Steele, Marie Ellison and Frank Cary. Anniversaries celebrated this week are Gerald and Miriam Steele (54 years), and Terry and Joan McGargle (65 years).

Carol Parker gave the sunshine report: Edith Patterson has not been feeling well. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Betty Emmons fell Friday night went to ER and is now home. Don Guy fell outside the clubhouse on Saturday. Not sure but hope he is ok. Pat Butts is on dialysis now. Ralph Ousley is doing better too. Good to see him either riding his bicycle or walking. Please keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers.

Since we sent Christmas cards to Jack and Lyla, we thought we should also send cards to those who would not be here this year. This includes Myrtle Johnson, Connie and Bob Brown, Betty Lawson and Jim and Patty Forrest. Merry Christmas to all!

Rick Motzinger thanked everyone for making the Saturday Morning Breakfast another success.

Approximately $87 was taken in for the HOA after expenses.

The new garbage disposal for the clubhouse is in the works, hopefully installed soon, and the replacement gutters should be installed within the week.

A ROC Board meeting is scheduled for this Thursday at 1:00 PM. All residents are encouraged to attend.

Mary Funk reminded us the annual Christmas parade will be on December 21, with cookies, ice cream and a gift exchange to follow. If you wish to participate in the gift exchange, please bring a wrapped gift of $10 value.

Carol Danzer asked for volunteers to help filling and distributing the luminaries at 1:00 on December 24. These will be placed on both sides of each driveway to be burning Christmas Eve to morning.

Nancy Pratt announced she will begin scheduling picture sittings for all residents for our new directory. Everyone is encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.

Linda Price announced the food donations collected in the park will be picked up by tomorrow. A generous supply of food was donated by the residents as well as a total of $330 in cash.

Bob Mellinger reminded the residents, new & returnees, of the Small White Cross project he has brought to the park. The crosses in the clubhouse are free to anyone wanting one and feel free to take extras for anyone else you know who may want to have one.

Gerald Steele announced the “Bibles for Mozambique” was successful with a large shipment of Bibles going out on Christmas Day. Hammock Estates park was a supporter of this project.

The 50/50 winner was Ann Miller for $37. The guessing game was split with three winners; Claude Funk, Lon Childress and Carol Danzer for $4.00 each. The raffle for the insulated bags was won by Joe Cole.

Lynette Pickup gave the birthday wishes this week to Bert Centers, John Weber and Marian Yoder. The only anniversary celebrated this week is Rod & Karen Potter (57 years).

Carol Parker gave the sunshine report, Christmas cards are going around for Jack Fitzgerald and Lyla Kuczynski for everyone to sign. Just to let them know we are still thinking of them. Pat Butts has infection in her valve. She has to have an operation to fix this and have a new Valve. She has been having other issues also with her kidneys and her diabetes. Card is being signed and mailed. Keep her in your prayers.

The park will be taking part in the annual food drive at Christmas time. Anyone not here may donate cash and she will do the shopping for needed items. Please have all donations turned in by December 15th.

Lynne Brewer announced the park will be having a sing-along for Christmas on December 10th at 7:00 PM. Any singers and/or musicians wanting to take part are encouraged to sign up. Also asking for volunteers to bring cookies.

The 50/50 winner was Don Guy for $34 and the winners for the guessing game was Rod Potter and Ann Miller for $4.75 each. The raffle for the insulated bags was won by Ann Miller.

Kat Hazelett announced there will be a birthday party this Saturday at 2:00 PM for all December birthdays. Beginning in January the monthly birthday party will be held on the 1st Saturday of the month at 2:00 PM. So far there are 6 volunteers working on the party committee but more are welcome!

A new telephone directory for the park is in the works. Please see Judy or Linda to verify your numbers and update changes.

December 2, 2019

President Bob Helmstadter opened the Monthly Homeowners Association Meeting, providing updates to the secretary and treasurers reports. It was also announced the new Park Photo Album is in the works with everyone needing to sit for a new picture and hopefully be published by April. A Memorial Service for park residents who are no longer with us will be held on February 10, 2020 immediately following the morning coffee.

Our regular Monday Morning Meeting followed with 77 present. Returnee’s this week are Phil & Carolyn Manning. We had one visitor, Janet Phelps daughter, Sherry.

Lynette Pickup gave the birthday wishes this week to Freda Munds and Meike Zeller. The only anniversary celebrated this week is Bob & Nancy Mellinger (11 years).

Carol Parker gave the sunshine report, asking that if anyone knows of someone not feeling well to please let her know. Mary Little has not been feeling well the past three weeks. A card for her is going around to be signed. Sylvia Flannigan has not been well for the last week. Max Fahl tore a ligament in his arm and is on the mends. Please be sure to keep everyone in your prayers

A new railing was installed along the stage area in the Clubhouse, thanks to the Bluegrass volunteers, at no cost to the park.

Linda Price announced the Ladies Luncheon will be on December 3 @ 11:30 reservations @the American Grille. Those going are asked to meet at the clubhouse by 11:00.

John Pickup introduced Bevery Butts as a new resident as of this October of this year, moving into her parents’ home.

Lynette Pickup gave the birthday wishes this week to Pat Thelen, Betty Lawson, Brenda Tromp, Dave Helbling and Betty Emmons. Anniversaries celebrated this week are Bob & Sandy Dotseth (56 years) and Benny & Bonnie Casady (57 years).

Spoke to Dolores last week. Dolores and Rod Kelly will be coming down middle of January. Rod was able to get a new Valve and doing better.

Sondra West returned home as her preacher’s daughter was killed in auto accident on Friday 22nd.

Pat Butts is back in hospital. She has infection in heart valve. Doctors have to take the pacemaker out, to work on infected valve then put pacemaker back. After doing all this she will then go to rehabilitation.

Ralph Ousley is doing better, he had a doctor’s appointment this morning.

Judy Fahl announced the park will be having a sing-along for Christmas on December 10th at 7:00 PM. Any singers and/or musicians wanting to take part are encouraged to sign up. They will be performing the “12 Days of Christmas.” Ice Cream & cookies will be provided.

Linda Funk said 2 more volunteers are needed on the gourmet committee and asking for assistance on Friday @ 2:00 PM to help with setting up the Christmas decorations.

The 50/50 winner was Claude Funk $33 and the winner for the guessing game was Helen Cole.

ROC President Rick Motsinger announced the pool developed a leak and lost water yesterday. The pool has been refilled and is back up to normal temperature.

The next men’s breakfast will be December 14th at 9:00 AM.

Good morning & Happy Veteran’s Day!

November 11, 2019

President Bob Helmstadter opened our Monday Morning Meeting with 67 present.  We have 10 returnee’s and 1 visitor.

The morning opener was a tribute to our Veterans in honor of Veterans Day.  Joan McGarigle read the poem “I Am A Veteran”.  Then, fifteen of our residents each introduced their selves and stated which branch of the military they had served, and their years of service followed, by the singing of our Star-Spangled Banner by all.  We are all so very thankful for their service and to all Veterans for their sacrifices!

Lynette Pickup gave the birthday wishes this week to Dan Newman, Lee Smith, Ron DeGraff and Rod Kelly.  Anniversaries this week are celebrated by Bud and Betty Pfeiffer, Ron and Hattie Pierce, and Dave and Meike Zeller.

Carol Parker gave the sunshine report, noting that Jack Fitzgerald is being treated for a clot and Max and Judy Fahl returned home this week to help care for family.

Reminder that there is bingo tonight and games night on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Bluegrass is on Wednesday’s at 1:00 PM, there were 79 attending last week.  The largest turnout ever for this time of the year! Cornhole is at 9:00 AM on Thursdays.  Lee Baldwin announced she won last week as no one else showed up. Maybe the competition will be a little tougher this week.

Linda Price has agreed to take over the calendar.  Please have your activities turned in to her by the last Monday of each month to be included.

Bob Helmstadter gave recognition Nancy Mellinger for helping paint the clubhouse bathrooms.  (Bob & Ruth helped a bunch too!)

There will be no water aerobics until further notice.

Rachel Childress announced the sign-up sheet is on the board for the Thanksgiving Dinner.  Please get signed up early and let us know what you will be bringing.

Lee Baldwin announced the surprise Birthday Party for Edith Patterson was a success on Saturday.  Lee read a heartfelt thank-you card from Edith expressing her gratitude.

The 50/50 winner was Carol Danzer for $22 and there was no winner for the guessing game.  That jackpot will roll over to next week.

ROC President Rick Motsinger announced there will be a shareholders meeting on November 21.

Lynette Pickup gave the birthday wishes this week to Sue Lewis, Lon Childress and Edith Patterson. One anniversary this week is celebrated by Ralph and Bert Centers.

Carol Grant gave the sunshine report, noting that Jim Miller is recovering from a bicycle accident, Jim Forrest is being treated for cancer and Pat Butts is recovering from a recent fall. Please keep them in your prayers.

Dan Newman gave a presentation of wooden pens he makes and offered up free classes to anyone interested in making them.

Bob Helmstadter gave recognition to the men helping with the swimming pool solar panel reconstruction and the clubhouse bathroom remodeling. A Big thank you goes out to Ike West, Phil DeSautels, Dan Newman, and Bob and Larry Mellinger. One of the many qualities of our park is the willingness of the members to pitch in when needed!

Lon Childress Opened our Monday Morning Meeting with 48 present. We have 4 returnee’s and 2 visitors. The morning opener was provided by Lee Baldwin, starting us off with a good chuckle.

Lynette Pickup gave the birthday wishes to Lowell Brevoort, Dave Zeller, Myrtle Johnson and Carol Ruccio. One anniversary this week celebrated by Jim and Patty Forrest.

Ruth Helmstadter gave the sunshine report, noting that no one has reported any new cares. We are praying this continues!

Bob Helmstadter announced the bathroom doors in the club house will\ have been replaced and now looking for a volunteer to do the painting.
