President Bob Helmstadter opened the Monday Morning Coffee Hour with 100 present. This included new residents Kurtis & Billie Calvary and visitors Judy Shotwell, sister of Pat Pierson and Ruby Newman is here until Thursday of this week. Welcome everyone!

Jim Stebleton provided the opener.

Lynette Pickup announced the birthday wishes this week for Dick Thelen, Carol Taylor, Judy Barlow, Ron Harmon, Joanne Madden and Betty McCarville. There are no anniversaries this week.

Carol Parker shared the Sunshine Report with sad news that Joe Flanagans’ sisters’ husband passed away last Tuesday Feb 18th. This is also Cynthia Phillips uncle. Cards are going around to be signed for both. Lee Baldwin is getting better but still coughing.
We received a Thank-You Card from Mick and Betty Jacobson. They stated. “I can’t begin to tell you what the friendship card from the park people mean to us. I cried.. it was very nice prescription ever… I don’t know all of the people’s names but. it was very special to us.”

Joe Cole was not present but it was announced we had 114 attend Bluegrass last week. It is every Wednesday at 1:00 in the clubhouse.
Judy Fahl gave the gamming report. The winners this past week were: Diana Green & Nikki DeHaven at Bingo split the $39 hot ball; Mike Watson won pinochle; Dick Thelen won euchre; Mary MacAuthur won corn hole; Annette Layher won shuffleboard on Tuesday with no one winning on Friday due to the “northern-like weather”; and, Jim Munds won horseshoes on Monday with “Horseshoe Moody” winning on Wednesday. In BUNCO, Carol Taylor had the most Buncos (5), and a 3-way tie most games (18) between Carol Taylor, JoAnn Schultz and Linda Stebleton.

Linda Price shared the calendar for the upcoming week, we have water aerobics today at 1:00; Sewing Class at 1:00; and Bingo at 7:00. Tuesday we have shuffleboard at 9:00. Bible study at 2:00 and game night at 7:00. Wednesday is Line Dancing at 10:00, Water aerobics at 1:00, Bluegrass at 1:00 and Pinochle at 7:00. Thursday is Corn Hole at 9:00 and Euchre at 7:00. Friday has Shuffleboard at 9:00, Water aerobics at 1:00 and Game Night at 7:00.

The Ladies Luncheon in March will be at the Caddy Shack next Tuesday. Also next Tuesday is Entertainment Night at 7:00

Carolyn Manning thanked everyone on behalf of Rick Motzinger for their assistance with the annual Fish Fry last Saturday. It was well attended and plenty of wonderful desserts were donated!

Kathy Morgan thanked everyone who attended and, especially everyone who helped at the 50th Anniversary party last Saturday. Two couples were honored for reaching that milestone and a card was read from Jim & Diane Wood expressing their gratitude for making them feel so loved.

Nancy Pratt announced the new directory is at the printer! If the work is back to us by Thursday, she is asking for volunteers to help put the directories together for distribution next Monday. A donation from the Bluegrass Committee was presented to Nancy in the amount of $500 to help offset the printing costs. Rick Motzinger, president of the ROC announced they are also making a donation to the directory from the fish fry proceeds.

Carol Danzer reminded everyone of the Resident Appreciation Dinner on March 14. Please sign up! All residents are encouraged to attend at no cost. A $5 fee is charged for any adult guests.

The 50/50 winner was Pat Moody for $44.
The guessing game collected $16 this week and there was no winner. That little annuity is rolling over to next week.

The donuts today were provided by Ron Harmon & Terry Webber, Gary & Connie Bruner and Skip & Barb Greeley.

Bob Helmstadter announced there will be an HOA Meeting at his house immediately following this morning coffee. All are welcome!

President Bob Helmstadter opened the Monday Morning Coffee Hour with 88 present. No new residents to the park, and no one is heading north. Visitors today are Larry & Judie Mellinger, Dan Newman’s’ mother Ruby, and Wendy from the Highlands County food bank. Wendy gave a brief explanation of the services she provides and her appreciation for the support of Highlands Estates.

Lynette Pickup announced the birthday wishes this week for Ralph Centers, Edgar Williams, Annette Layher, Sylvia Eason and Ralph Tomassi. There are two anniversaries this week: Mike & Martha Watson (38 years) and Jim & Kathy Morgan (51 years).

Carol Parker shared the Sunshine Report, Mary MacArthur has had bronchitis but is doing better. Max Fahl is not feeling well with Bronchitis. Dick Miller, Cynthia Phillips uncle, is at The Palms with terminal conditions. Betty Lawson went back home. She will be having treatment soon. Lee Baldwin isn’t feeling well. Mary Funk having surgery tomorrow. Please keep everyone in your prayers.

Joe Cole reported we had 128 attend Bluegrass last week. It is every Wednesday at 1:00 PM in the clubhouse.

Ruth Helmstadter announced the Leap-Year-Dinner originally planned for February 29 has been cancelled.

Reminder that there is bingo tonight and games night on Tuesdays and Fridays. Volunteers are needed to sign up for callers and runners. Sewing is at 1:00 PM today, cornhole is at 9:00 AM on Thursdays, Pinochle on Wednesdays, line dancing is also on Wednesdays, at 10:00. Horseshoes are every Monday at 10:00 AM (following coffee) and Wednesdays at 9:00 AM. Bible Study is Tuesday 2:00 PM. Golf is every Monday and Friday. The new calendar for February is now out and copies are in the clubhouse.

Nancy also shared some interesting statistics about our park and found that we are comprised of residents from 18 states and two countries!

Bill Garner announced the next ROC meeting will be this Thursday at 1:00 PM. It is a general meeting and all are welcome to attend.

Lynette Brewer announced Virginia Days will be at Homers Restaurant on the 19th.

Ron Harmon shared the Highlands County Household and Electronics trash collection will be on February 29 on Twitter Road.

Carol Danzer announced the Resident Appreciation Dinner will be on March 14. Please sign up! All residents are encouraged to attend at no cost. A $5 fee is charged for any adult guests.

The 50/50 winner was Carol Danzer for $40. The winning ticket was drawn by Carol Danzer. The guessing game was won by Joe Cole for $11.50.

President Bob Helmstadter opened the Monthly Meeting of the Hammock Estates Homeowners Association with 80 residents present and no visitors.

Bob read a card from Megan Gardner, granddaughter of Bill and Kathy Gardner, expressing her thanks and gratitude for all the love, prayers and support extended to her family while dealing with her mothers’ illness. She very much enjoyed her recent visit.

Bob also announced discussions are already under way to select the slate of officers for 2021. Anyone seeking a position on the Board should contact him and he hopes to present some names by next month.

Kat Hazelett gave an update on the defibrillator the park is looking into. While more research is needed they have found there to be free instructional courses available and some interest in the residents in the training.

Nancy Pratt gave an update on the park directory. Hopefully the last of the pictures will be taken this coming Sunday and it should be out sometime in March.

At the close of the Board Meeting, Bob led us directly into the Monday Morning Coffee Hour.

Lynette Pickup announced the birthday wishes this week for Donald Stidham, Brenda Hollingsworth and Jim Forrest. There are two anniversaries this week: Lowell & Pat Brevoort (9 years) and Ken & Patty Gillie (55 years).

Carol Parker shared the Sunshine Report, a card going around for Betty Emmons who is not doing well. Vickie Mc Claim in the RV section went to hospital this week but, she is back l believe same day. Judy Fahl took Max to ER Saturday he has bronchitis but, Max is back home now. Terry McGarigle also has bronchitis but he home. Pat Butts is doing better she is getting out and about. Grant is doing better.  He must go back in hospital Feb 21st to have stent removed and clean up the gallstones remaining. I asked if anyone knew how Jack and Lyla where doing. Joyce Chapman said she didn’t know how Jack was doing. But Lyla seems to be doing ok.

The monthly birthday party celebration for March will be Saturday the 6th at 2:00 PM.

Bert Centers announced the gospel group “Simple Faith” will be performing at the clubhouse tomorrow evening at 7:00 PM. There is no charge to attend but donations are accepted on behalf of the band.

After the morning coffee, Ron DeGraaff led a Memorial Service to pay tribute to five park residents who we lost in 2019. We were remembering Rose Acker, Boyd Butts, Rod Gillis, Gail McLennar and Jack Tomasevich. The poem titled “The Dash” was read by Linda Stebleton and songs were sung by Joe Cole, “Beyond The Rain”, Bert Centers “Where The Roses Never Fade”, and Mary Newman, “Mansion Over The Hilltop.”

Dave Acker gave a moving testimony for his wife, Rose, and residents spoke of memories and times shared. Ron shared scriptures and closed with a group song and a prayer. Beautifully done Ron & team!

Patty Gillie gave the birthday wishes this week to Donna Anderson, Terry McGarigle and Kat Hazelett. There is one anniversary this week, Bob & Kat Hazelett.

Carol Parker has returned to share the Sunshine Report and first thanking everyone for their cards, prayers and visitors while her husband, Grant, was down. Grant is home now and doing much better. Special thanks to Cynthia Phillips for all her help as well. Also, there are three cards going around for everyone to sign for neighbors not feeling well; Mary Little, Donna Anderson and Mick Jacobson.

The next Ladies Luncheon is tomorrow at the Olympic.

Dan Newman announced he is still offering craft classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays for anyone wanting to make a wooden pen. He also asked anyone with a golf cart to please be available on Wednesdays for the Jam session in helping shuttle people to the clubhouse.

Sylvia Flanagan reminded everyone the annual flea market and park garage sale is this coming Saturday. Please have your tables set up on Friday and be ready to man your booth by 7:30 AM on Saturday. Anyone dropping off donations to the park table are asked to have the items priced.

Jim Stebleton announced he is planning another DJ session with music and dancing for February 15th at 6:30 PM. New flyers will be printed up.

Bud & Betty Pfeiffer announced their neighborhood mixer will be on Thursday, February 6th at 3:00 PM.

The annual Fish Fry is on February 15 at 1:00 PM. There is a sign-up sheet and be sure to pay Judy Fraser.

The 50th Anniversary party will be on February 22 at 5:00 PM.

The monthly birthday party celebration for March will be Saturday the 7th at 2:00 PM.

Bob Helmstadter thanked the January Gourmet Committee for another fantastic job and Jim Morgan gave a thank you to all those assisting with the monthly birthday party last week. It was another well attended and enjoyable day!

The 50/50 winner was Larry Hagerty for $40. The guessing game had three winners, Terry Weber, Judy Fahl and Russ Moody split the $14.75 jackpot.

The donuts today were provided by JR & Donna Anderson, Bob & Kat Hazelett and Alan & Marilyn Burns.

Next Monday Morning Coffee will include the monthly meeting of the HOA and have a Memorial Service immediately after for park members who have passed away.
