The Hammock Estates Homeowner’s Association is the social group of the park. Membership is open to all residents of Hammock Estates. This group organizes all of the following activities for the park.
The park is very active during the season. Most of the activities take place in our spacious clubhouse. Coffee Hour every Monday at 9:00 am coffee, donuts and an update on upcoming events for the week. Bingo Monday evenings at 7:00 pm with 100% payout. Shuffleboard at 8:30 am on Tuesdays and Fridays. Wednesday and Thursday evening card games (Euchre, Pinochle or board game) start at 7:00 pm. Wednesday mornings at 8:00 am brings ladies’ and Men’s golf. There are also monthly Bunco games on Tuesdays at 1:00 pm.
In the summer months, we are a little more laid back. Coffee and shuffleboard still go on, but not some of the other activities. We go out to dinner as a group twice a month and have dinners or Bar B Q’s on the holidays. Residents also get together to go to area attractions.
We have Holiday dinners in the clubhouse on the major holidays for all to attend, nice if you have no relatives’ or friends in the area. Twice a month we have dinners, some catered and others are Potluck. We have some great cooks in the park and the food is great! The ladies generally get together once a month for a luncheon, sometimes they have these in the clubhouse and other times they go to restaurants around the area. Generally in February Sylvia Flannigan and crew have a dinner honoring all couples in the park who have been married 50 years or more. This is one of our most elaborate dinners. There are also Pancake Breakfasts. As you can see we really like to eat!
Sometime during the winter, there is generally a cruise. In the past, they have cruised to the Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, and the Panama Canal. A great time is had by all.
Residents get together to attend local shows, concerts, festivals, and sometimes a trip to the Dog Track at Sarasota. This makes for great outings and a chance to become better acquainted with your neighbors.
Entertainment night is on a Tuesday once a month. We have Organ music, Country and Bluegrass, and other groups. We have several residents who are talented and perform from time to time. Cookies and Ice Cream are generally served!
Every Wednesday at 1:00 pm between November and April there is a Jam Session at the clubhouse. Great Music and fun! For more information, contact Dan Newman at 248-245-4055.
Also every winter we stage a huge yard sale in the clubhouse. If you have a lot of items you can have a table of your own or just donate items for the Homeowners Association. to sell. This is a good way to clean out those things that are tucked back that you will never need or use again!
