Hammock Estates a Resident Owned Community is located in the heart of Florida. Less than 2 hours to Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, and many Baseball teams come to Florida for Spring training. The beautiful Bok Sanctuary and Legoland are 45 minutes from Sebring.
We have shuffleboard courts, a heated pool, a great clubhouse with kitchen for our many dinners, parking for extra vehicles and a small campground. There are planned golf outings, holiday dinners, potluck suppers, ladies luncheons, bingo, bunco, card games and other outings. We also go on a cruise just about every winter. And for those of you who plan to reside year round we go out to dinner a couple of time a month, have Bar-B-Q’s. Picnic’s and other activities from time to time during the summer months.
If you are a freshwater fishermen this is the place! There are 87 lakes in Highlands County and they are just loaded with large-mouth bass, speckled perch, shell crackers, brim and catfish. Lake Istokpoga is the largest, followed by lakes June, Placid and Jackson. The Kissimmee River, many creeks and canals are also available for fishing. It is also approximately 50 miles to Lake Okeechobee known nationwide for its great fishing. There are also many opportunities to fish from the banks and shore line if you do not own a boat.
Just step out of the park and across Hammock Road is the Lake Jackson bicycle and walking trail. This trail is fully paved and goes West approximately 3 miles to Highlands Hammock State Park. One of Florida’s best state parks. If you go East about 1 mile you come to Lake Jackson, here the trail goes completely around the lake. This takes you by the South Side Shopping Center, downtown Sebring with its shops on the circle, the Civic Center, the Sebring public library and Highlands Lakeside Theater. If you go completely around the lake it’s about a 11 mile trip, give or take a mile or so. This is a very pleasant trip on a bike or walking and you can do as much or as little as you like.
Just one block East of Hammock Estates is the Sebring YMCA with its pool and exercise facilities. There are several leagues that play here, Senior softball, Adult softball and numerous youth leagues. Along with the softball fields there is also soccer fields.
If you are a golfer you should have no problem finding a course to play. During the season there are Ladies’ & Men’s groups here in the park that play every Wednesday. At other time it’s never very hard to find someone willing to play a round or so.
